Compassionate Care for Alzheimer’s and Progressive Dementia

Living with memory loss requires a special kind of understanding. At Providence Place, we embrace the Through Their Eyes philosophy, focusing on empathy and connection to provide truly personalized memory care.

We provide a secure, nurturing environment for seniors living with Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy Body dementia, Parkinson’s memory loss, and other forms of cognitive impairment. Our Mt. Juliet community is designed to reduce the anxiety and confusion often associated with memory loss through structured routines and specialized dementia care services.

We provide specialized Through Their Eyes training for our GoodWorks employees, led by our Senior Director of Dementia Programming, Amy Clark. Amy Clarke is the visionary behind the Through Their Eyes program. She is a seasoned healthcare executive with a career spanning over two decades in geriatrics and social work. She holds a Masters of Science in Social Work and is a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), who believes in providing “Compassionate Communication” to improve the lives of seniors as a leading expert in the field of dementia care.

Experience the difference compassionate understanding makes at Providence Place.

When Is It Time for Memory Care

It may be time to transition to memory care if your loved one:

  • Wanders: Becomes disoriented or attempts to leave the house unsafely.
  • Sundowns: Experiences increased agitation, anxiety, or confusion in the late afternoon.
  • Neglects Self-Care: Struggles with bathing, dressing, or maintaining proper nutrition.
  • Fails Medication Management: Forgets doses or can no longer follow a prescription schedule.
  • Withdraws Socially: Avoids interaction due to the inability to follow conversations.
  • Care Needs Exceed: Caring for your loved one causes caregiver burnout.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between memory care and dementia care?

In senior living, the terms are often used interchangeably. Dementia care refers to the clinical support for symptoms of cognitive decline, while memory care refers to the specific, secure neighborhood where that care is provided.

Our team is trained in non-pharmacological dementia interventions. We use sensory calming techniques, routine-based engagement, and our “Through Their Eyes” communication style to reduce the anxiety that often occurs in the late afternoon.

It may be time to consider a move if your loved one is wandering, forgetting to eat or take life-sustaining medications, or if their safety at home is no longer manageable for a family caregiver.
